Refrigerated Containers

Working reefer units for cold and frozen storage, typically holding anywhere from -25°C to +25°C on three-phase power.

A refrigerated container is an insulated box with a machine in one end. Most of ours are bought as static cold stores rather than for transport, for kitchens, growers, laboratories and event sites that need cold space without building a room.

The insulation is typically 60 to 100mm of foam, and the floor is a T-bar aluminium grating that lets air circulate under the load. That grating is why a reefer holds temperature evenly and an insulated dry box does not.

Power

Reefer machines run on three-phase, normally 400V. Single-phase sites need a converter or a generator, and that cost belongs in your budget from the start rather than as a surprise afterwards. Ask us for the running current of a specific unit before you plan the supply.

Buying a used machine

The box outlasts the machine. Ask for running hours, the make, and when it was last serviced. Carrier, Thermo King and Daikin units all have parts available; obscure makes can be difficult. A unit that has been sitting unpowered for a year deserves a pre-purchase test run.

Placement

Leave clear air at the machine end. The condenser needs to breathe, and a reefer backed tight against a wall will work harder, cost more to run and fail sooner.
