A container is the cheapest secure storage per square foot you can put on a site. It arrives complete, needs no foundation beyond level bearing points, and can be lifted out again when you no longer want it.

For most buyers a wind and watertight used unit does everything a new one would, for a good deal less.

Security

The standard door lock bars are strong, but the padlock is the weak point on an exposed site. A lock box, which is a steel shroud welded over the padlock, defeats bolt croppers and is inexpensive to add. We fit them to order.

Keeping the contents dry

Sealed steel boxes suffer condensation. Warm damp air meets a cold roof at night and water runs down the inside. Anti-condensation coating on the ceiling, or insulation with a pair of vents, prevents it. Raise stored goods off the floor on pallets either way.

Planning

A container placed temporarily and not fixed to the ground is often treated as a chattel rather than a building, but rules vary by authority and by site. Check with your local planning department before ordering if the unit is going somewhere sensitive. We cannot give planning advice for your area.
