Shipping containers
Units certified fit to carry freight, with a valid CSC plate.
Cargo-worthy is a survey grade, not a description of appearance. A cargo-worthy container has been examined and passed as fit to carry freight, which means it holds a valid CSC safety approval plate and can be accepted for international shipping.
It is not the same as wind and watertight, and the two are often used interchangeably by sellers who should know better. Wind and watertight describes weather resistance. Cargo-worthy describes structural certification. A container can be the first without being the second.
If the container is going on a ship, or is going to be stacked loaded, this is the grade to buy.

It is a survey grade rather than a description of appearance. A cargo-worthy container has been examined and passed as fit to carry freight, which means it holds a valid CSC safety approval plate.
No, and the two are often confused. Wind and watertight describes weather resistance. Cargo-worthy describes structural certification. A container can be the first without being the second.
No. If the container is going to stand in a yard, wind and watertight does the same job for less. Cargo-worthy matters when the container is going on a ship or will be stacked loaded.
Every cargo-worthy container passes CSC inspection and carries a valid CSC plate. Initial certification runs five years from the manufacture date, with re-inspection every 30 months after that. Re-certification is available at our Houston, Los Angeles and Newark depots for $350 to $500 per unit.
