For 40ft Refrigerated Container – Cold Storage Powerhouse
A 40ft refrigerated container in used condition — in service and structurally sound. Chosen for temperature-controlled storage and transport. Every unit is inspected before it leaves our yard, so the grade below is what you will actually receive.
Product Description
The 40ft Refrigerated Container is a mobile cold storage unit designed for the secure transportation and storage of temperature-sensitive cargo. Constructed with a durable steel frame and insulated sandwich panels, this container is equipped with an integrated refrigeration system to maintain precise internal conditions. It is a standard solution for logistics operations, cold chain management, and auxiliary storage requirements across various industries .
Key Features
Precise Temperature Control: The integrated refrigeration unit maintains a consistent temperature range, adjustable from -30°C to +30°C, suitable for a wide variety of frozen or chilled goods .
Robust Insulated Construction: The walls are built with a steel frame and a sandwich of polyurethane foam, approximately 10-12 cm thick, ensuring thermal efficiency and structural integrity .
Efficient Air Circulation: A T-shaped aluminum floor is integrated into the design. This facilitates the “bottom air delivery” system, allowing cold air to circulate evenly throughout the cargo space, from the floor up through the goods .
Durable and Hygienic Interior: The interior lining is constructed from materials resistant to moisture and easy to clean, supporting hygiene standards required for food-related storage .
Secure Rear Door Access: The container is fitted with double-wing doors at one end. These doors include a continuous rubber gasket seal to prevent air leakage and are secured with multiple galvanized locking rods .
Standardized Dimensions: Built to industry-standard external dimensions, ensuring compatibility with standard road chassis, rail transport, and ocean freight handling equipment .
Detailed Description
Refrigerated containers, commonly referred to as “reefers,” are specialized intermodal containers used to transport perishable goods that require temperature control. Unlike standard dry containers, a reefer is fitted with an end-mounted refrigeration unit. This unit works by compressing and evaporating refrigerant in a continuous loop to remove heat from the sealed interior environment .
The 40ft model is among the most commonly utilized sizes for large-scale logistics, offering a substantial internal volume while maintaining maneuverability. Its operation requires a consistent power supply, typically a 380/400V 3-phase connection, provided by a generator, a power outlet on a vessel, or a terminal point . The unit’s microprocessor allows for precise temperature settings and monitors the internal atmosphere. This technology is critical for preserving the quality of goods and reducing spoilage during transit or while in storage . The container’s robust design allows it to be stacked when loaded, making it efficient for storage yards and vessel transport .

Compatibility and Intended Use
This 40ft refrigerated container is intended for commercial and industrial use. It is compatible with standard heavy goods vehicle trailers, rail cars, and container ships. Its primary applications include:
Cold Chain Logistics: Maintaining the integrity of frozen foods (meat, seafood, ice cream) and chilled produce (dairy, fruits, vegetables) during transport .
Pharmaceutical Storage: Providing a controlled environment for the transport of medicines, vaccines, and biologics that require stable, cool conditions .
On-Site Cold Storage: Acting as supplementary frozen or chilled storage for catering businesses, grocery distributors, agricultural operations, or seasonal events .
Industrial Applications: Storing temperature-sensitive materials, chemicals, or phase-changing materials .
Package Includes
1 x 40ft High Cube Refrigerated Container
1 x Integrated Nose-Mounted Refrigeration Unit
Container is sold as a standalone unit. Power cables, generators, or temperature monitoring services are not included unless specified separately.
Internal dimensions are approximately 39 ft 5 in × 7 ft 8 in × 7 ft 10 in (12,032 × 2,350 × 2,393 mm), giving 2,390 cu ft (67.7 m³) of usable space, with double doors at one end. These are the standard figures for a 40ft container; exact internals vary slightly by manufacturer.
This is a used container that has been in service. It is wind and watertight — no holes, working door seals, an intact roof — but it shows its history: surface rust, dents and previous owner markings are normal and do not affect how it performs.
This unit is commonly used for temperature-controlled storage and transport. Doors, windows, insulation, electrics and paint can all be added before it ships — it is cheaper and neater to specify a conversion while the container is still in our yard than to modify it on your site afterwards.

Containers intended for international shipping carry a valid safety approval plate under the Convention for Safe Containers, administered by the International Maritime Organization. Condition grades such as cargo-worthy follow the inspection criteria published by the Institute of International Container Lessors. If you need a unit for shipping rather than static storage, tell us and we will confirm its plate before dispatch.
Delivery is quoted against your site access rather than published as a flat rate, because haulage for a container depends on the distance, the approach and whether a crane is needed. Most deliveries use a tilt-bed truck, which needs a clear and reasonably level run about twice the container length. We price it before you commit.
