A high cube is 9ft 6in externally against 8ft 6in for a standard box. Inside that becomes 8ft 10in of clear height instead of 7ft 10in. Everything else, the length, the 7ft 8in width, the corner castings, is identical.
That foot is worth more than it sounds. It is the difference between stacking pallets two high with room to work and stacking them two high with the top one scraping the roof.

Racking, mezzanines, anything on wheels that has to be driven in, and every conversion where people will be standing up. Once a floor and a lined ceiling go in, a standard container loses about four inches and starts to feel low. A high cube does not.
A little more to buy, and a foot more overhead clearance on delivery. Check gateways and any branches or cables over the approach before ordering. The truck needs the room as well as the container.
