SteelForge sells shipping containers to customers across Rhode Island, from 10ft site stores through to 45ft high cubes and 53ft domestic units. Containers are delivered to your site rather than collected, and the price of that delivery depends on the address and the access rather than on the mileage alone.

Rhode Island is served quickly from the Newark yard, and the recurring constraint here is density rather than distance. Much of the region is built up, so site access — street width, overhead wires, and how much room a truck has to reverse and tilt — usually decides the delivery method, and a crane lift is common on tight urban and suburban lots. Winters freeze the ground firm, which delivers well, and leave snow to clear off flat roofs.

What we deliver here

The full range: standard and high cube containers from 10ft to 53ft, new, one-trip and graded used stock, refrigerated units, and containers modified into offices, workshops and secure stores. Stock is held centrally and delivered from our Newark depot, so what appears in the catalogue is what can be sent to a Rhode Island address.

Delivery in Rhode Island

Delivery method
Delivery method: Standard tilt-bed or roll-off delivery, where the container slides off and you provide any offloading equipment; flatbed, where you unload with a crane or forklift and which is required for multi-container orders; and lift-assisted delivery by crane or side-loader for tight-access sites, at additional cost.
Vehicle
Vehicle: A single-axle tilt-bed or flatbed for 20ft units, roughly 35 feet overall. A tandem-axle for 40ft standard and high-cube units, roughly 55 feet overall. A tri-axle or extendable trailer for 45ft to 53ft units, 65 feet and over.
Typical timing
Typical timing: Rhode Island is close to the Newark depot — typically 1 to 5 business days for stock units. Modifications add 5 to 7 business days.
Pricing
Pricing: Priced by radial distance from the Newark depot. The first 100 miles are the base rate; 101 to 300 miles adds $2.50 per mile over 100; 301 to 600 adds $2.00 per mile over 300; 601 to 1,200 adds $1.75 per mile over 600.
Minimum clearance
Minimum clearance: 15 feet of overhead clearance along the whole approach, and 80 feet of straight-line run for a 40ft container or 60 feet for a 20ft. The truck also needs a 50-foot turning radius.
Road width
Road width: 14 feet, with 12 feet the absolute minimum. The access road needs to carry 8,000 to 10,000 lbs per axle, on a firm surface — concrete, asphalt, gravel or dry level dirt, on nothing steeper than a 5% grade.
Gate width
Gate width: 14 feet at the narrowest point of the opening.
Delivery radius
Delivery radius: 250 miles

Buying and delivery in Rhode Island

Do you deliver shipping containers in Rhode Island?

Yes, statewide, served from our Newark depot. Delivery is to your site; give us the ZIP code and the access and we will confirm the cost and the lead time.

How quickly can a container reach a site in Rhode Island?

Quickly — the depot is in nearby Newark. In-stock units are typically 1 to 5 business days once the access is confirmed and a slot is booked.

What decides the delivery method on a tight lot in Rhode Island?

The access. Street width, overhead wires and turning room often mean a crane lift or a smaller vehicle rather than a standard tilt-bed. Photos of the approach let us confirm before booking.

Delivery in Rhode Island

Delivery is quoted against the address and the site access, not by distance alone. Give us the ZIP code, the container, and a description of the approach — gate width, surface, anything overhead — and we will confirm the method, the cost and the timing. Rhode Island is served from our Newark depot.

On a tight lot, confirm the approach and overhead obstructions before ordering — they decide whether a tilt-bed can reach the spot or whether a crane lift is needed.
