Containers by size
Every container we hold, sorted by length, from 7ft site stores up to 53ft high cubes.
Length is usually the first thing people fix on, and it is the easiest thing to get wrong. A 20ft container is the one most buyers land on, but a 10ft unit fits where a 20ft will not, and a 40ft costs far less per cubic foot than two 20s.
Work backwards from the space rather than the stock. Measure the pitch you have, add ten feet at the door end for opening and for the truck, then pick the longest box that still fits.

What each length gives you
A 10ft holds roughly 560 cubic feet, a 20ft about 1,170, and a 40ft about 2,390. High cube versions add a foot of internal headroom, taking a 40ft to around 2,690 cubic feet. Internal width is 7ft 8in on all of them, because the ISO standard fixes it at 8ft externally.
Delivery decides more than you would think
A 20ft needs 60 feet of clear run. A 40ft usually needs a tilt-bed truck and something closer to 70 feet, plus room to reverse. If access is tight, two 20s often work out cheaper delivered than one 40, even though the steel costs more.
Tell us the ZIP code and what the approach looks like when you ask for a price. We would rather quote the right truck than send the wrong one.
