About this unit

A hazardous-goods rated container in used condition — in service and structurally sound. Chosen for general cargo and secure storage. Every unit is inspected before it leaves our yard, so the grade below is what you will actually receive.

9ft Hazardous Goods Store – Shipping Container
Overview
The 9ft Hazardous Goods Store is a compact steel container designed for the secure storage of hazardous materials. Built from modified ISO shipping container components, this unit provides a dedicated solution for facilities requiring compliant chemical storage in a space-efficient format. Its construction focuses on durability and functionality for industrial and commercial applications.
Key Features

Corrosion-resistant steel construction utilizing Corten steel for extended service life in various environmental conditions

Integrated secondary containment system with spill containment sump to capture leaks or drips

Factory-installed ventilation system designed to minimize accumulation of fumes

Lockable hinged doors with lockbox for controlled access and security

Weather-resistant design with watertight and windproof seals to protect contents from external elements

Forklift pockets integrated into the base for positional movement and transportation

Compact 9-foot footprint suitable for locations with limited space

Detailed Description
The 9ft Hazardous Goods Store is manufactured from weathering steel (commonly referred to as Corten steel), which develops a protective oxide layer when exposed to the elements. This material property reduces the need for ongoing maintenance and contributes to the structure’s longevity in outdoor installations .
The unit is configured specifically for hazardous material containment applications. A spill containment sump is incorporated into the floor structure, providing secondary containment in accordance with standard industry practices for chemical storage. This feature is intended to contain potential leaks from stored containers .
Ventilation is provided through passive venting systems or optional mechanical ventilation components. This airflow management helps prevent the accumulation of hazardous fumes within the enclosed space .
Access is gained through full-height hinged doors equipped with a factory-fitted lockbox mechanism. The doors open to provide clear access to stored materials, and the locking system is designed to prevent unauthorized entry .
The external surfaces receive protective coating applications appropriate for industrial storage equipment. All welding and joints are completed during the modification process to maintain structural integrity .

Intended Applications
The 9ft Hazardous Goods Store is suitable for the storage of materials that require secure containment, including:

Flammable and combustible liquids in appropriate containers

Corrosive materials (acids and alkalis) when stored in compatible receptacles

Toxic substances requiring isolation from general traffic areas

Water-polluting materials needing secondary containment

Chemical inventories in manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial settings

This unit is designed for facilities seeking to maintain separation between hazardous materials and general operations. It is appropriate for remote locations, security-sensitive areas, or sites where permanent chemical storage buildings are not feasible .
Compatibility Information
The container accommodates various storage configurations:

Accepts drums and intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) up to 1000 mm width

Floor space suitable for multiple 55-gallon drums or smaller containers

Racking systems can be installed separately for smaller container organization

Compatible with standard forklift equipment for positioning via base pockets

Condition

This is a used container that has been in service. It is wind and watertight — no holes, working door seals, an intact roof — but it shows its history: surface rust, dents and previous owner markings are normal and do not affect how it performs.

What it is good for

This unit is commonly used for general cargo and secure storage. Doors, windows, insulation, electrics and paint can all be added before it ships — it is cheaper and neater to specify a conversion while the container is still in our yard than to modify it on your site afterwards.

Standards and inspection

Containers intended for international shipping carry a valid safety approval plate under the Convention for Safe Containers, administered by the International Maritime Organization. Condition grades such as cargo-worthy follow the inspection criteria published by the Institute of International Container Lessors. If you need a unit for shipping rather than static storage, tell us and we will confirm its plate before dispatch.

Delivery

Delivery is quoted against your site access rather than published as a flat rate, because haulage for a container depends on the distance, the approach and whether a crane is needed. Most deliveries use a tilt-bed truck, which needs a clear and reasonably level run about twice the container length. We price it before you commit.
